Library Model

The model we are proposing is a progressive model that will allow the library to grow over the course of a few years.

Phase 1: Little Free Libraries

In this phase the city in cooperation with citizens and the local Boy Scout troop built and placed Little Free Libraries throughout the city on privately owned land as well as city parks.

Phase 2: Micro Library

In this phase donated books are collected and cataloged by volunteers in the community. These books are then housed in a large shed or a donated space (500+ sqft) and the library is run by volunteers. Limited services are offered during limited business hours. Digital content is limited to free catalogs promoted by the library.

Phase 3: Full Library

In this phase a permanent location is found for the library (1500+ sqft). The library is run by paid staff, and full library services are offered. Digital content is expanded to subscription services.

Phase 4: Expansion

In this phase we will reach out to other communities in the area to establish branches, and offer interlibrary loans and possibly a bookmobile for remote areas.
